Exterior shots of our recently completed Administration and Prep Building at Stella Maris Catholic Primary School, Maroochydore. The wonderful Landscape design by Jeremy Ferrier Landscape Architects, includes vegetable gardens, an amphitheatre and several small play spaces. The outdoor spaces complement TDG’s design, creating an engaging environment to teach and learn both inside and out.

Contribution from a variety of team members is always important during design meeting…….even if it’s from the office dog Ben.

2017: Residential Project - Update

Our residential project is progressing with completion due mid-May. Now that the scaffolding has been removed,  the full extent of the stunning spotted gum cladding can be seen across the front facade. Internally, floor to ceiling glazing allows for transparency and connection into the outdoor room between two living areas.

2017: Stella Maris Administration and Prep Building

Further examples of how colour has been introduced throughout the new Administration and Prep Building at Stella Maris Catholic School. Keep an eye out for more posts to come, as this project is due to be completed by next week.

Recycled timber used throughout the stairwell and external cladding introduces a warm feature to the neutral tones of the new Classroom Building at Caboolture Montessori School. The internal rooms are designed with the Montessori teaching ethos in mind: full of natural light, soft colours and uncluttered spaces.

2017: Stella Maris Administration and Prep Building

Currently under construction, the new Administration and Prep Building at Stella Maris Catholic Primary School includes interesting architectural details which both the staff and students can enjoy. Brick and tile patterning introduces a pop of colour internally and externally, and exposed trusses, light coloured finishes and large openings create an interior that feels welcoming and spacious.

The new GLA building at Caboolture Montessori School is progressing both internally and externally. The design takes advantage of Queensland’s climate, providing large amounts of outdoor learning space and encouraging natural ventilation and light to enter through strategically placed louvers and high level windows.

2017: Residential Project - Update

Currently wrapped in scaffolding, Towill Design Group’s latest residential project announces itself to the street through a façade of clear finish Spotted Gum. The beautiful timber is especially spectacular in the afternoon, when the wood’s natural warmth is emphasized by the setting sun. Internally, a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor living spaces has been created through floor-to-ceiling glazing and openings.

Our wonderful clients inspecting their new building currently under construction at Caboolture Montessori School. The main stair is clad in beautiful recycled timber, paying tribute to the building’s bushland surrounds. Many thanks to Midson construction for their hard work on the project thus far.

2017: Stella Maris Administration and Prep Building

We are pleased to see the new Admin and Prep building taking shape up at Stella Maris, Maroochydore!

Coloured bricks are sprinkled through the external façade mixed with recycled timber outriggers and metal cladding & the large window openings provide well lit, ventilated spaces for both the staff and students.

The new Caboolture Montessori classroom is emerging amongst the trees at a rapid pace. The extended height of the first floor allows the undercroft to capture cool breezes, while the centralised core floods the space with natural light. The first floor steel is in place ready for the unique roof trusses. A great relationship between the school, Midson Construction & Towill Design Group has the project running smoothly and ahead of schedule. Exciting times ahead

2016: Waterfront APARTMENTS, Runaway Bay

On the TDG drawing board. We’ve been having fun this week playing with roof downturns to this development on the coast. Such a novel and expressive way to conceal ugly downpipes.

Stepping back from the façade of Ironside’s latest building, the abstract ‘C’ shape can be witnessed. The push-pull brickwork brings the wall to life, announcing the building’s name to the rest of the school

We are excited to see the scaffolding along Central Ave removed and brick patterning emerging from the facade of Ironside State School. The intricate brickwork brings articulation, movement and joy as an entry statement to the school.

Towill Design Group has just completed a boutique apartment development in Bulimba. With a sophisticated material palette of polished concrete, warm timbers and dark finishes, these apartments have been designed with large windows & north facing balconies which allows for naturally lit interiors as well as encouraging north easterly breezes to move through the spaces. Large sliding doors to the living space allow the external balconies act as an extension of the living space.

2013: THE KINDERGARTEN FEATURES IN 'The Architecture of Early Children' BLOG

The St Paul's Kindergarten has featured on a great blog, The Architecture of Early Children.

Follow the link below to read this article:

Last Semester at QUT, Rachel & Louise tutored 4th Year architectural students testing and creating sustainable childcare designs for Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

During the semester, there were visits from the client, as well as interactive design sessions allowing the Architecture Students to work with Early Learning students from QUT, encouraging cross disciplinary learning.

The students designs were exhibited at QUT's new Cube precinct at the end of July - here are some photos of the exhibition, the Lone Pine client, Peta Wilson & other special guests!

Rachel is continuing to tutor the third year architecture, interior, industrial & landscaping students at QUT this semester, exploring the idea of 'open classroom' designs for Lone Pine Sanctuary.

In April 2013, both Rachel Towill and Louise Booth attended the Reggio Emilia Conference in Italy.

The conference was attended by 400 people from 110 countries.

The conference was such a rewarding experience and will further enhance our education designs.

Plus we got to meet and spend time with the most lovely people!
